JDC demands withdrawal of Municipal tax
1/15/2012 10:18:16 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 15: Jammu Development Council (JDC) has criticized the cabinet decision to charge Municipal Tax from shopkeepers and house owners at Rs 50 and Rs 100 respectively.
Addressing a press conference here today, JDC president Krishan Lal Abrol and General Secretary SK Sharma said that the decision is quite irrelevant and against the general public and business community.
Abrol stressed that the Cabinet Decision NO.68/1 /2011 dt.18/3/20 11 issued under CEO SUDA/305/2010 dt. 20/3/20 11 deserves to be set aside. Abrol emphasized that the Govt should discuss and hold meetings with the public and MLAs to find the best solution so that the general public do not suffer and put under the burden of Municipal Tax.
He demanded that the Municipal Tax should not be implemented otherwise the public which is already reeling under the price hike will now get another blow in the form of the Municipal Tax, especially the small petty shopkeepers.
