| Karra to release maiden Economic Survey Tuesday | | |
Jammu, Jan 15 The Government is releasing its maiden Economic Survey highlighting the broad framework of the State Economy Tuesday. Minister for Finance and Planning Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra would table the economic Survey in the Legislative Assembly. The exhaustive report on the state for economy is expected to highlight the rate of economic growth, poverty, inflation and unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. It would also give elaborate details of the comparative statement between the state and the national economy, highlighting the infrastructural deficiencies in various sectors. The release of Economic Survey in the State is being seen as a historic step as the same is coming out at a crucial time when the 10th Five-Year Plan is coming to an end and 11th Five-Year Plan is beginning from the net fiscal year. The Survey would form the basis for sectoral allocation on the basis of the performance of the State economy. Unemployment has emerged as a major area of concern in the Economic Survey and a full-fledged course of action is proposed in the 11th Five-Year Plan to address the issue. It is pertinent to mention that Mr. Karra during his deliberations with the Planning Commission strongly advocated that the plan period targets should not be fixed in terms of output but in terms of employment. |
