| HM Commander involved in 11 killings arrested | | | Srinagar, Jan 15 Baramulla police today claimed to have arrested a district Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen allegedly involved in the killing of eleven people, while as an IED has been diffused in Bonigam area of Qazigund near Srinagar Jammu National Highway. Official sources said that Baramulla Police achieved a major success, when it apprehended District commander of HM outfit. He has been identified as Maqsood Ahmed Bhat alias Tariq alias Altaf Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat of Mamoosa Pattan, he was active since 1996, sources added Sources said that on his disclosure, police has recovered one AK Rifle along with two magazines from Lalpora Pattan. According to sources Maqsood was involved in the killing of eleven people and was responsible for the murder of Mohammed Ramzan President Municipal Committee Pattan, his two PSO’s and one constable from whom two INSAS rifles were snatched on 03.05.2005. He was also responsible for the killing of Ghulam Rasool Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat of Goshwara Pattan. The deceased was father of a Municipal councilor. Sources said, adding that PDP Block President. Reyaz Ahmed Bhat s/o Ghulam Hassan Bhat was also killed by the dreaded militant. Sources said, the militants commander has reportedly murdered an ASI of J&K Police Ali Mohammed Malik son of Habibullah Malik resident of Pattan on March 11 .2006 and another Ghulam Muhideen Dar s/o Abdul Sattar Dar R/O Turk Batpora Pattan on December 24.2006. Only a week before, he killed Sajad Ahmed Mir son of Abdul Gani Mir resident of Indergam Pattan two brothers Abdul Rashid Bhat and Mohammed Shafi Bhat sons of Sonuallah Bhat R/O Khalpora Pattan sources added. Meanwhile, a major tragedy was averted today, when road Dominance party of 49-RR detected an IED at Bonigam under the jurisdiction of police station Qazigund. Bomb disposal squad was called and it was later diffused safely. Sources added that a patrolling party of 62-RR Camp Imam Sahib was fired upon by some unidentified militants at village Dreri Kalipora, under the One Army Jawan reportedly sustained bullet injuries in the shoot out. The area has been cordoned and search is on nabbing the militants.
