Sham for severest punishment to culprits of female foeticide

AKHNOOR, Jan 15 : Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma has sought support of cross sections of the society to curb the menace of female foeticide. He said Government has been trying its level best to keep a check on this inhuman crime, but entire society has to come forward and contribute in this social cause. Describing female foeticide a great sin, which cannot be forgiven by any Universe Court, the Minister said that the people indulging in this practice should get severest punishment. If the culprits will go scot free in the Court of human beings, but they will not escape from the Court of Almighty God. He aid nobody has right to kill an infant before taking birth and this needs to be condemned by one and all. All right thinking people should come out against this crime and supplement Government efforts at different level, he added.
Addressing a large gathering of men and women at a religious function held at village Panjgrain, a remotest corner of Akhnoor today, the Minister advocated for moral education to the children so that they can carry forward the rich ethos and culture of Dogra. He said during the past some time, the society has been dominated with western culture and even in schools, the teachers are concentrating on academic activities, but unfortunately, our generation is lagging behind in moral ethics which he descried dangerous for the coming times.
He stressed the need for promoting moral values and preserving the rich heritage of Dogri culture, which is vanishing rapidly. 'We have to make collective efforts in this direction and rather we have to start the charity from our homes', he asserted.
Urging the social/religious and credible Non-Governmental Organizations to play a positive role in providing the moral values to the younger generations, the Minister said that they should use their influence in order to carry out necessary reforms in the society. He said need of the hour is to save the younger generation from various social evils, drug and other abuses which are eating the vitals of the society. He maintained that some credible organizations are making sincere efforts in this direction, but others should also contribute to strengthen the mutual brotherhood, communal harmony and rich values of Indian culture, which are famous in the world over, said Mr. Sham.
Responding to the demands of locals, he assured to improve road connectivity, PHE schemes and healthcare facilities. He directed the officers to formulate a comprehensive proposal for upgradation of these facilities.
He also inspected Ayurvedic Dispensary and Health Sub Centres at Panjgrain and Primary Health Centre, Bhalwal Brahmana. He directed the doctors and para-medics to ensure better medicare to the people of these far-flung areas.
