J&K fencers bag 19 medals in National School Games | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 16: The fencing team of Jammu and Kashmir, sponsored by the Department of Youth Services and Sports brought laurels to the state by bagging 19 medals including 4 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze medals in the All India Level National School Games (NSG) held recently at Chandigarh. J&K won gold in under-19 boys foil team event and the fencers included Gursharan Singh, Mohd Tariq, Honey and Satish. In under-14 girls Simran Arya, Roshni Gupta, Mansi and Vrindha clinched silver in sabre team event, while Simran also got silver medal in sabre individual event. The bronze medal winners included Sujanya (Epee U-19 girls), Vishal Thappa (Sabre U-19 boys), Runvijay (Foil U-17 boys), Nihal Singh (Foil U-17 boys), Chahat Singh (Foil U-17 girls), Muzamil (Epee U-17 girls), Shubam (Epee U-17 boys), Ravi (Epee U-17 boys), Ismile (Epee U-17 boys) and Akshay (Foil U-17 boys). The team was accompanied by physical education master, Ashok Sharma as manager and Anthony as coach. |
