2 killed, 15 hurt in snow incidents | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 16: Atleast one police cadet died while 27 others were injured when rooftop of a building in south Kashmir's Awantipora area collapsed due to heavy snowfall. Reports said roof of a building of Police Training College Lethpora collapsed this afternoon due to the weight of snow injuring more than 30 police cadets. One of them, Vikramjeet Singh of Samba, succumbed to his injures on way to hospital, police said. Constables Shamim Ahmad (124), Sunil Sharma (381), Bilal Ahmad (928) and Raja Naizr (340), who were seriously injured in the inicdent have been shifted to Srinagar for treatment. SP Awantipora, Mohammad Irshad Khan told KNS that 27 cadets were injured in the incident. "One among them succumbed to his injures while rest have been admitted in different hospitals," he added. Sources said more than 1000 cadets are undergoing training in the College. Meanwhile, one person died in Kursoo Padshahi Bagh area here on Monday when he fell from rooftop of his house while clearing snow. Reports said Mohammad Ayoub Wani, 40, was clearing snow from the rooftop of his house when he slipped and fell down. He died on the spot. |
