JMC continues drive against adulteration

Jammu, Jan 16: Under instructions from Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu S.C. Sawheny, Jammu Municipal Corporation continued the drive against the adulteration of milk in the areas of Satwari, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Jewel Chowk, Resham Ghar, Bakshi Nagar, Rehari, Sarwal and Amphalla.
During the drive 280 milk cans were checked out of which 39 milk cans were found of sub-standard quality and an amount of Rs. 8050 was realized as fine from the erring milk vendors on spot. Besides this, during the checking of milk against adulteration the team destroyed 6 milk cans which were found adulterated and not fit for human consumption.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appealed to the shopkeepers / milk vendors to sell pure and fresh milk to the people failing which stern action under the provisions of J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 shall be taken against them.
