PDD Kishtwar removes illegal hocking in Kishtwar town | Rural areas without electricity in Doda & Kishtwar | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Jan 16: In its continuous measure to gage on power theft, Power Development Department in Kishtwar District removed more than 90 illegal hocking during a surprise checking within municipal limits. When contacted Subash Kumar Sharma Superintendent Engineer Kishtwar Circle said that a team of PDD officials under the supervision of JE-City I conducted a surprise checking in areas like Ghudali Chowk, Veterinary Hospital, Shaheedi Road, Shakti Nager and Salamkani. He said during the surprise checking, more than 90 illegal hocking meant for power theft was removed and seized on spot. He said that department has issued the warning to the peoples involved in power theft and said that the penalties under law will be imposed on the violators at first instance and said that in case they continuous to involve themselves in power theft, their electricity connections will be terminated beside a legal action too will be initiated against them. He said that department will continue such type of surprise checking in future as well. Meanwhile the rural areas in twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar are continued without electricity since more than a week's time. In this connection SE PDD Kishtwar Circle informed that all the major town of Doda and Kishtwar District and said that people of Doda city, Bhaderwah city, Kishtwar City, Thatri City, Khilani, Prem Nagar and Gundow are regularly getting power despite harsh weather condition. He said that efforts are on to restore the power to rural areas of Doda and Kishtwar districts and said that the bad weather continuously hammered the process of restoration of power. He said that with the efforts of PDD field staff, the power supply to Gundow HQ has been restored today. He said that due to heavy snowfall, the department has suffered major losses to the power infrastructure in rural areas of both Districts. He said that as soon as the weather improves, the department will access the transmission lines and according the power will be restored to other areas in a phased manner. He said that in order to tackle the emergency situation, special cells were created in all the three divisions Viz Kishtwar, Doda and STD Doda falling under Kishtwar Circle with two JE,s and concerned field staff remain available at each Division HQ during peak hour. He urged the people to make judicious use of electricity in winter to avoid frequent power cuts. He urged up on the people not to touch any electric wires or poles in case they found them laying on road and advice the people to immediately inform the officials of the concerned PDD to avoid any human loss. |
