BJP High Command grills state leadership, asks to give quick response to Speaker's queries

Jammu, Jan 16: BJP national leadership is totally perturbed over the irresponsive attitude of the newly nominated Legislative Party leader Jugal Kishore Sharma to the letter of Speaker Mohammed Akbar Lone who had asked him to file the objections on disqualification of seven BJP MLAs from him by January 15.
According to party sources the Party High Command after coming to know that BJP legislative party has sought more time to his petition for disqualification of Party MLAs for cross voting episode of April 13 last year.
The Party High Command according to sources has grilled the State leadership and sought an immediate reply from it as to why it delayed the filling of objections by the stipulated time. The High Command has made it clear that there will be no compromise on the disqualification of the seven MLAs as the decision was taken by Party's Parliamentary Board the highest decision making body of the Party, sources added.
Sources said the BJP High Command has asked the state leadership that delaying tactics on the issue will weaken the Party cause besides sending a wrong signal among across the state and embarrassing situation for party leadership. The High Command has also asked Sharma who is outside the state for a private trip to rush back to J&K immediately and after consultation with some leading lawyers in the state file the objections before the Speaker, sources added.
Sources said besides Sharma, Party chief whip in the Assembly Ashok Khajuria and its state president, Shamsher Singh Manhas too have been asked to take an effective stand on the issue. They also have sought a reply from the duo that why they were late in filling the replies and why the issue was not brought in the notice of Central leadership till date, sources added.
Party high Command has also asked the State leadership to ascertain that there is not any tacit understanding between the Party leader in House and expelled MLAs otherwise there was no reason in delaying the reply, sources said.
Though Party High command has kept all options open for those MLAs disqualified from the Party who will tender a public apology for cross voting, the High Command may review the decision in their case, sources said.
Meanwhile Party received a major jolt today after its senior leader and an ideologue Surinder Sharma along another leader from Doda Swami Raj Sharma left the party. The duo announced their decision at a press conference here today.
Surinder Sharma who is a respectable leader in Jammu West Constituency has represented various social organizations. He has played a key role in the victory of BJP candidate Prof Chaman Lal Gupta in last Assembly elections.
