Jammu, Jan 16: The shifting of sands towards the Prof Chaman Gupta faction further continued as the BJP cadre upset with the State BJP Leadership and the manner in which the seven BJP MLA's were expelled over the alleged 'Cross Voting' issue many more BJP workers resigned from the primary membership of party.
Sources said that depressed and dejected over the party leadership within state unit of party many more heads alleging ill treatment given by Central BJP to the senior leaders are changing their loyalties towards their leaders and now are preferring to the Prof Chaman Lal Gupta camp.
Sources accused the state and central leadership of party for specifically targeting the group headed by former union minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta. "They described the coterie of Shamsher Singh Manhas (President of State BJP) and Sat Sharma as dictators in Party who are serving their own interests over and above the party and workers," sources added.
Meanwhile in latest development senior leader of the state unit of BJP and Secretary BJP Surinder Sharma after serving party for the last for decades feeling dejected over the party functioning today condemned the expulsion of MLA's from the party and termed the decision unfortunate and unrealistic. Surinder Sharma who resigned from party stated that MLA's are deliberately targeted to serve the interests of the fewer in the party. He alleged that some vested interests in Party are bent upon to tarnish the image of senior leaders including Prof Gupta and party itself.
Another senior leader of the Party Swami Raj Sharma who unsuccessfully had contested elections from Doda constituency twice resigned on the same ground and exuded his faith in Prof Gupta's able leadership.
Besides Surinder Sharma (Secretary State BJP) and Swami Raj Sharma (Distt Gen Sec Doda) others who resigned the party namely Vijay Shastri (Social Worker), Madhu Sharma (Mandal General Secretary), Savitri Devi (Mandal General Secretary) and Kulbeer Singh (Mandal Vice President). The outgoing BJP leaders reasoned that they resigned with heavy heart alleging that this party does not have any place for mass leaders and workers who really work for welfare of common masses. Questioning the party decision of expelling seven party MLAs in 'vote for cash incident on April 13 last year, the outgoing BJP leaders observed that there has not been any sought of verification process to ascertain facts of cross voting.
'The group led by former union minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has been specifically targeted by the party members who are having their own vested interests, they alleged further adding, "the coterie of Shamsher Singh Manhas (President of State BJP) and Sat Sharma as dictators in Party who are serving their own interests over and above the party and workers."
They said that Sat Sharma who has been inducted into the party after he joined leaving National Conference only few years back has been given the important posts in party whereas the workers like us who are serving the party from last 4 decades are humiliated and harassed against him. "The present BJP Leadership is working as agents of NC-Congress Coalition to promote their agenda in the State and to serve their own interests, they alleged.
