Workshop organised at Gandhi Nagar College | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 17: Women stage craft workshop began at Government Women’s College Gandhi Nagar here today. The workshop has been organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu and it’s first of its kind and would culminate on 27th of January. Elaborating the concept behind holding of the event noted women’s activist and former secretary of Cultural Academy, Prof. Rita Jitender said that the stage workshop would introduce young girl students of Jammu to new and emerging trends in stage craft. In his address to the participants noted stage director, Pritam Katoch said that for success of any stage performance the role of behind the scene personnel is paramount and it is this aspect of stage craft on which the ongoing workshop would lay focus. Earlier, in her welcome address additional secretary of Academy, Savita Bakshi said that over the decades the stage scene of the world had undergone several changes and need of the hour was to introduce the newer generation to this aspect of the stage craft. Principal women’s college, Nalini Kohli also spoke on the occasion and said that her institution would extend whatever held it could for smooth conduct of the seven day workshop. The programme proceedings were conducted by Academy’s junior staff artist, Anil Tickoo while additional secretary, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn presented the vote of thanks.
