| Shrines of Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu – this year on State tableau | | ‘Focus is on representing three cultures of J&K’ | | ASHUTOSH SHARMA JAMMU | JAN 15 Imagine having a glimpse of shrines from the three distinct regions of Jammu and Kashmir State at one sight – Oh yes! This will become true along the Rajpath-Janpath-Vijaypath road stretch this Republic Day when a tableau from this state will surge through the President, Prime Minister and other dignitaries depicting Bawe-Wali-Mata, Charar-e-Sharif and a Gumpa from Ladakh. While there have been allegations in the past of tableaux from J&K most of the time highlighting just single region of the state, this year all the three regions have been given equitable representation. The tableaux from J&K have won first prizes three times in a row in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Rafeeq Masoudi, secretary J&K Academy for Art Culture and Languages, who flagged off a delegation of artistes to New Delhi today, said this year’s tableau is representing Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir regions. Like every year, the artists have been invited by the Defense Ministry to represent the culture of state at India Gate on Republic Day. The delegation will present three composite cultures of the state that. The delegation is led by nodal officer Mipan Ostal who is also Culture Officer of the academy at Kargil. Choreographer Randeer Kumar, Account Officers Virender Kumar and Shoukat Ahmed are also the part of team, which is being supervised by Haroon Rasheed. Usually, the number of artists going to the Republic Day celebration is 34 and this year it has increased from that of yesteryears. Meanwhile, today only representatives from Kashmir and Jammu embarked upon their journey while those from Ladakh could not make it because of delay in the arrival of flight. All the participants from Jammu and Valley expressed enthusiasm and joy. “We are proud to be selected for representing our state at the national platform. Speaking about the representation from the Ladakh, Masoodi said they could not come today and are likely to come tomorrow to leave for Delhi. “Our representatives have also been invited to tea party at President House where they will give a musical performance depicting all the three cultures, Masoudi said quite emphatically and added that they will present a Copper “Samawar” to the President as a memento from our state. The participants include Monika Singh, Happy, Inderjeet, Manu Sharma, Aman Deep, Amarjeet, Manju Kumari, Mandeep, Janaj Raj and Poonam Sharma from Jammu region. Whereas Gulam Hasan Bhat, Goolam Rasool, Gulam Ahmed, Pakizah, Shokat Mazaz, Sohail, Muzzafarand Abdul Rehman are from Valley. Similarly, Nawang Gyatso, Nawang Rigzin, Nawang Tamphal, Nawang Samphal, Nawang Skalzang, Nawang Dorgee, Jigmith Shongar, Dorje Stanzin, Singee Namagial, Rigzin Gyurmit, Nowang Chimba and Sadiq Ali would represent Ladakh.
