Extension lecture on “Delivery System of Assistive Technology in J&K”held at G.D.C. Paloura | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU , January 17 : Equal Opportunity Cell of GDC Paloura organized an extension lecture on “Delivery System of Assistive Technology in J&K”.
Vinod Kumar Misra was the resource person for the occasion. Principal of the college Prof. (Dr) Hemla Aggarwal began the programme by formally welcoming the resource person and highlighted the necessity of organizing such kind of activities for understanding the needs of various disabled persons.
Mishra, Assistant General Manager and Head Q AC Division Central Electronics division, in his address, talked about the concept of disability which is a natural part of human experience which adversely affects the capacity of an individual to participate in the social activities.
He also informed students that J&K is having the highest percentage of disabled population among all states of India due to several reasons which also includes terrorism. In the year 2001-02-03, 04-05, there was no delivery of Assistive Techniques to any individual with disability and J&K has extremely low coverage in this particular area. He ended his lecture by encouraging the students to empathise with the needs of disabled people and contribute towards their well being.
