| Blue-eyed cop generates income, arranges Rly tickets for higher ups | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 17: The tall claims of Government of eradicating corruption is been openly thrown to winds merely by a cop. Highly placed sources disclosed that the cop is posted at Jammu Railway Station for the last 18 years and watching the interests of police higher ups.
Every month he extract lakhs of rupee from all the road-side vendors for allowing them hassled free business. Besides, he carries out black-marketing of railway tickets.
Sources, at the condition of anonymity, said, “A Selection Grade Constable has not been transferred from the Railway Wing (Jammu Tawi Rly Stn) for the last 18 years and is openly extorting enticements from the shopkeepers in and around the station for allowing them to run their business. He is even extorting money from the hoteliers running their business in the vicinity of Jammu Railway Station. Most of them are running on the land belonging to the Railway authorities.
They claimed that at times many people had to face the wrath of the cop, when they tried to point out his wrong doings and illegal ways to generate money from the people. Source said recently the constable has been asked to undergo six months training at Police Training School, at Udhampur, but he never attended any class and is still stationed at Railway Station Jammu.
“Further he is mostly used by the officials for reservation of the tickets that is why they are ignoring his misdeeds”, said a source.
Sources claimed that during past ten years, the constable has been transferred few times, but within two or three days he managed come back to Railway Station, which has become a lucrative posting for him, as he generates lakhs of rupees every month, which reaches the pockets of the officials.
