CS reviews action plan for computerisation of CAPD
CS also reviews status of work on Jagti Township

JAMMU, JAN 17: The Chief Secretary (CS), Madhav Lal on Tuesday reviewed the action plan for the computerization of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) to track the movement of subsidised food grains from granaries to individual ration card holders.
He was briefed about the various necessary components including supply chain management, computerization of ratio née data, automation of fair price shops, grievance redressal and citizen interface and activities to be carried out under each component of the prestigious project.
Chairing the meeting of the State Level Apex Committee (SLAC) constituted to monitor the computerisation process, Chief Secretary emphasized the need to plan the computerisation of the entire PDS operation in the State in a manner that would enable end-to-end automation of the entire PDS chain within a reasonable time frame. He said future requirements should be kept in mind while formulating the implementation strategy adding that private players can also be roped in for support and project management.
Meanwhile Chief Secretary Madhav Lal also reviewed the status of work on Jagti Township, which is nearing completion. The remaining flats along with the allied works will be completed by February and handed over to the authorities for allotment.
Out of the total number of 4224 two room flats as many as 3654 flats have already been completed and allotted to the migrant families, the remaining 570 flats are almost complete. The township was developed to rehabilitate Kashmiri Migrants under the Prime Minister’s Rehabilitation and Return Package for the Kashmiri Migrants. The Meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B B Vyas, Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Kachoo Isfandyar Khan, Relief Commissioner Migrants, Vinod Koul and other officers.
