Earlier, opposition members leveled serious allegations against the government in Legislative Assembly accusing it of sitting on corruption cases against certain ministers involved in Panchyat electrification and Rural Health mission scams. Referring to much publicized Panchyat Electrification scam, Mehboob Biag while raising supplementaries on his question during Question hour alleged that Rs 247 crore have been spent in a particular Assembly segment. He demanded that a white paper should be issued about the utilization of various financial packages it received from union government over these years to unearth the bunglings. Taj Mohi-u-din, who was put in an embarrassing situation denied the allegations leveled by opposition and said, “ I am ready for any inquiry and asked the government to put the report in the house after investigation is complete.” Referring to figures presented by chief minister about the performance of vigilance organization during his speech after discussion on governor’s address, he said “Azad sahib is very keen that cases of corruption are taken to the logical conclusion”. Earlier, Balwant Singh Monkotia also alleged large scale bungling in Udhampur and said that his district has become a hub of corruption, while Jugal Kishore of BJP staged a walk out after he was denied to ask a supplementary on the same question.
