Jora announces Rs 4 cr modernization project for Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, Rs 1 cr for Cultural Theatre Ladakh
Cultural activities to get boost in coming days

JAMMU, JANUARY 17- Expressing dismay over in adequate infrastructural facilities for promotion of cultural activities in all the three regions of the state, the Minister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today announced Rs 4 crore modernization project for Abhinav theatre Jammu adding that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has already advanced of Rs 1.47 crore for the purpose. He said a state of art cultural theatre would also be constructed in Leh at a cost of Rs one crore whereas Tagore Hall Srinagar is undergoing upgradation at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
Speaking at the cultural show “GULDASTA” comprising traditional dances of all the regions of the state viz Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh held at Abhinav theatre Jammu this evening, Mr. Jora said that the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language s would be revitalized to give fresh impetus to the cultural activities in the state.
The dance show was organized by the J&K Academy to showcase traditional dances of the three regions of the state.
Saying that J&K is the blend of diverse and unique cultures, the Minister called for preserving and promoting the rich and age old traditions of amity harmony and brotherhood which he said is the hallmark of our ethos. He said government is committed to preserve and promote the pluralistic heritage of the state.
The Minister asked the cultural academy to pool all its resources for promotion of art Culture and languages in all regions of the state without any discrimination. He said the preservation of art and music of all the three regions would help in maintaining the distinct identity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr. Jora underscored the need for showcasing the diverse forms of state’s art and music for promotion of tourism adding that such cultural extravagancies need to be held at all the famous tourist destinations of the state to propagate and popularize our rich heritage.
Secretary Cultural Academy Mr. Atul Dullo, senior officers of various departments, besides a large number of people from different walks of life witnessed the dance show.
Earlier, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Mr. Atul Dullo, who hold the charge of Cultural Academy in his welcome address, said that Academy has chalked out a calendar for organizing cultural events in the state adding that a three days folk festival is being organized in Jammu shortly.
During the dance show “GULDASTA” popular dances of Ladakh Alyuda and Jabara, Kud, Kachu-Chanchalo dances of Jammu and Kashmiri rouf were performed by the artists which mesmerized the audience who responded with the thunderous applause.
