Many nursing homes in Rajouri illegal, says CMO
1/18/2012 12:28:19 PM
RAJOURI, Jan 17: In a startling revelation, chief medical officer (CMO), Rajouri, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Shawl today said most of the nursing homes in the district were running illegally.
During an interaction with scribes and students at the PG college here, he said there were also reports that some of the nursing homes were indulging in illegal abortions.
The CMO said some women and employees of health department were involved in the illegal practice of abortions in private medical clinics and even in houses.
Leaving few, all other nursing homes were running illegally as these did not have permission of the authorities concerned, he added.
Asked why his department was not acting tough against such clinics, or nursing homes, Dr Shawl said the government had in the recent past formulated a medical committe to identify them and then take legal action against their owners.
He also admitted that district hospital, Rajouri, did not have a technician to operate the ultra sound machine.
