| Smuggling of fake currency notes is part of Zia's Operation Topac | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18: Since flooding the Indian market with fake currency notes has been part of operation Topac,conceived by late Gen.Zia-ul-Haq,the ISI and Lashkar-i-Toiba are said to be playing an active role in printing and circulating these fake Indian currency notes.
Inputs from various intelligence agencies have revealed that large wads of fake Indian currency notes are in circulation in the Indian markets and a portion of it has found way into the banks despite strict vigil by the Reserve Bank of India and the security forces.
The menace of fake Indian currency notes has assumed so much serious dimensions that despite registering about 3200 cases militants and their overground supporters continue to keep these fake currency notes in circulation.
Reports say that those agencies involved in luring boys for arms training in camps in Pakistan and occupied Kashmir have found fake Indian currency notes quite helpful.According to these reports,parents of several hundred boys have willingly agreed to send their wards to the arms training camps after they were paid huge sums of money,all in fake currency notes, not only in Pakistan and occupied Kashmir but in Jammu and Kashmir and some states in India.
The ISI is so much involved in the printing and circulation of these fake indian currency notes that it has set up two units for printing these fake currency notes in Karachi and Lahore.At time the ISI has imported paper from European countries for printing these fale currency notes so that the sleuths of Indian intelligence agencies were unable to distinguish the fake from the genuine currency notes.
One report said that Pakistani agencies besides the ISI and the Lashkar have been smuggling these fake indian currency notes from across Jammu,Kashmir,Rajasthan and Bangladesh.Another report said that poor labourers from Hyderabad and Kerala,working in the Gulf,fall prey to the racket engaged in smuggling of fake currency notes into India.In certain cases the ISI and the Lashkar manage to send bundles of fake indian currency notes to their agents in Sri Lanka and Nepal fromwhere they were being smuggled into some Indian states.
Yet another report said that the involvement of Dawood Ibrahim and his two associates,Babu Gaithan and Aftab Bakthi in the printing and circulation of fake Indian currency notes has been established.The report said that Gaithan and Bakthi are operating the racket from Dubai.
These fake currency notes were being used for purchase of arms and ammunition also.These fake currency notes were being used for purchasing cell and satellite phones for militants.It is also being used by those supporting terrorists for purchasing houses and land which later was being used as hideouts by he militants.Latest reports revealed that those computer knowing people,who support militants,were being used for printing fake currency notes within India.
It is in the context of the growing menace of fake currency notes that the security and intelligence agencies have been asked to coordinate their efforts for a major crackdown on those invol ved in smuggling of fake indian currency notes from across the border.
