Sham conducts marathon tour of Health Institutions in valley

SRINAGAR, JAN 18: The Minister for Health and Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma immediately after his arrival from Jammu conducted a marathon tour of various health institutions of Badgam, Ganderbal and Srinagar districts.
During his inspection of District Hospital Budgam, the Minister took a round of various wards and Hospital Store and enquired about the health facilities being provided to the patients in the hospital. He also enquired about the ambulance facility available in the hospital and was informed that most of the patients from far-flung areas currently undergoing treatment in the hospital were provided ambulance service despite heavy snowfall.
The Minister directed the hospital administration to ensure privacy in female wards and better heating arrangements in the hospital. He urged the hospital staff to work with dedication and fulfill their responsibilities with utmost care. He warned them that any laxity on this count will be dealt with severely. Later, the health Minister inspected Primary Health Centre, Gondipora and took stock of facilities being made available to patients. The locals appealed the minister for arranging ambulance service for PHC. He assured them that their demand will be considered. The Minister also visited Sub-District Hospital, Beerwah and Sub District Hospital, Magam where he found Gynaecologist, Dr Rafiq absent from duty. He directed immediate transfer of said doctor to Primary Health Centre, Sogam. The Minister inspected JLNM Hospital, Srinagar also and took stock of medicines and other essential equipment available in the hospital. He also inspected the under construction hospital block which is coming up at Rs. 58 crore. Sham Lal also visited District Hospital, Ganderbal. He interacted with the hospital in-patients and enquired about the health facilities, heating arrangements and food being provided to them. The locals demanded placement of a Gynaecologist in the hospital and the minister assured them that their demand will be met on priority.
The Minister was accompanied by the District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmed Mir and other senior officers.
