Anjuman condoles Mehdi Hassan’s demise | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU , Jan 18 : In the weekly literary meeting chaired by Amin Banihali death of world fame singer Mehdi Hassan was condoled who died after a long illness in Pakistan on January 13. He was one of the top most singer who had travelled almost throughout the world and mesmerized the lovers of poetry and music. There would be absolute silence when he would sing not only the Urdu ghazals but the poetry compositions of other languages as well. He had rendered his melodious voice to Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bangali and many other languages. Anjuman remembered its founder members as well. Late Malik Ram Anand who had been the president of the Anjuman for more than three years had died on 7th January 2004. Talib Aimanabadi was also remembered . Contributions of both the Urdu writers were talked about by the members. Anjuman also remembered a journalist, educationist, critic, translator and writer R K Bharti who had expired. A famous personality who had made his name in the journalism both in English and Urdu and who belonged to the journalist family of Sarafs- Suraj Saraf was highly appreciated for his journalistic abilities. Sympathies were expressed with the bereaved family. |
