| Army organizes medical camp for physically challenged children | | | Jammu Jan 15 As a part of its healing touch policy for the physically challenged children, suffering from various ailments, of the remote border districts of the State and in pursuance of its Operation Sadbhavana, Indian Army today flagged off a batch of 25 such children of Nowhera sub division of Rajouri for further medical check at Government Medical College Hospital here. The children, who were initially screened by the Army and the local civil hospital doctors at Nowshera, were recommended for specialized treatment at Government Medical College Hospital here. The Commander Nowshera Brigade flagged off a batch of 25 such children, boarded in a bus and accompanied by their parents, in presence of a large gathering of army and civil dignitaries, sarpanches, parents and their guardians. The physically challenged children apart from providing specialized treatment would also be provided with necessary equipments and gadgetries by the Army free of cost to overcome their physical disabilities besides free transportation, accommodation and food during their stay at Jammu. In his address at the flag off ceremony, the Commander said that the children in this region have remained devoid of any worthwhile medical aid, being a far- flung area and therefore this medical aid camp has been provided to them free of cost. Reiterating the commitment of the Army to help the people living near the borders and mitigating their problems, the Commander said that the success of this camp would result in fostering close relationship between the locals and the Army. Organizing such camps, he said, provides an opportunity to the Army to serve the humanity and the nation as a whole, thereby winning the hearts and minds of the people in distress and expressed the confidence that this camp would instill confidence amongst these physically challenged children.
