Cabinet reshuffle: Soz proposes Omar disposes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18: Sources close to Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC-I) Chief Prof Saif-ud-din Soz said that the PCC Chief alongwith his ranks were virtually taken aback when Omar Abdullah described his (Soz's) views on cabinet reshuffle and expansion mere rumors. And the things are happening in the manner as Congress leadership is proposing something and the same is being disposed off by the chief minister. Pertinent to mention that Prof Soz recently had stated that cabinet expansion and reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir are round the corner and further had indicated that the exercise on picking up new faces and dropping the deadwood had been started. His statement has set in speculations on those congress ministers who were to be dropped and those who were to be inducted in the cabinet. However, the political commotion took a U-Turn when Omar Abdullah described Soz's statement on cabinet expansion and reshuffle a 'mere rumour.' Senior Congress leaders close to the party chief put blame upon the the party high command, including the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram, for giving a long rope to Omar Abdullah and some congress dissidents which had encouraged Chief Minister for taking the Congress in the state for a ride. If another senior leader, who is an MLA, is to be believed then Omar Abdullah is trying to cultivate a couple of Congress ministers who were being used to campaign against Soz in Delhi and he further opinioned that this divide and rule policy adopted by Omar Abdullah could pose a new threat to the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leaders also apprehend that delay in cabinet expansion and reshuffle by Omar is simply a time buying procedure and depriving the Congress of its due share in the council of ministers. They also said that there were three seats vacant in the council of ministers and of these two seats are to be filled from the Congress. This way any further delay in the cabinet expansion would prevent the Congress from inducting two new faces in the ministry. |
