Inclement Weather: Interiors of Kishtwar face shortage of essential commodities
Shortage of essential drugs keeps becoming a major concern

Kishtwar, Jan 19: As the uninterrupted snowfall continues in Kishtwar District, after people of Kishtwar town and its vicinity, the people of rural areas of Kishtwar District like, Bhunzwah, Keshwan and Thakrie areas are now facing the shortage of essential commodities like flour, Kerosene oil and fire wood.
Mohammad Saleem Sarpanch of Panchayat Keshwan informed the "Early Times" on phone that there is acute shortage of essential commodities like flour, rice, water and medicines. Saleem said that due to continuous snowfall, the people of rural areas are facing lot of inconvenience and their no medical facilities available to the people. "Lot of people including children are ill but they fail to get any medical attention since there is no health center in our area having population of more than 5000," lamented Mohammad Saleem.
He said that there power supply in Keshwan area is affected since last so many days but despite repeated requests to concerned officials with Power Department electricity is not restored.
He said that district administration must to take some measure to provide the relief to poor people.
Mudasir Hussain from Bhunzwah in his telephonic conversation on phone told that Thatri-Bhunzwah road is closed since last more than 20 days and more than 15000 people of Bhunzwah area are without electricity, road and essential commodities.
Meanwhile the shortage of essential drugs for diseases like diabetes , heart and other diseases starts falling short due to continue blockade of Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway has become a major concern for the patients and further delay on part of the government in restoring the supply of essential commodities in Kishtwar District may turn fatal for patients suffering from chronic diseases.
When contacted Dr Ajay Gupta Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar said there is no need to panic about the shortage of essential drugs in Kishtwar District. He said alternative drugs for Diabetes and other related diseases are available in the market.
