J&K to follow Chandigarh Coop Housing model: Manohar | | | Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, Jan 19: The J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation would take up construction of residential flats in the state on the pattern of Housing Project launched by the Punjab Cooperative Federation at Banur about 30 kmr from Chandigarh. This was stated by the Minister of State for Cooperatives, Printing & Stationery, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, who is currently on tour to Chandigarh to examine the Cooperative structure and its functioning. The Minister also held a meeting with Managing Director, Punjab State Federation of Cooperatives, House Building Societies Limited, Chandigarh, and Managing Director National Cooperative Housing Federation New Delhi, Dr. M. L. Khurana and Managing Director Housing Corporation Limited V. K. Magoo and discussed modules of various housing projects that could be introduced in the J&K. Welcoming Dr. Manohar, the MD, National Cooperatives, Housing Federation New Delhi, apprised about the working and role of the Corporation at the National level. Subsequently, Mr. H. S. Sidhu, Managing Director, Punjab State Federation of Cooperative House Building Societies Limited briefed Dr. Manohar about the working of Punjab State Cooperative Housing Federation and the projects undertaken by the said Cooperative Federation in and around Chandigarh. The Minister also visited the project site at Banur where the Punjab Coop. Federation has undertaken a project for construction of multi-storey 900 Housing Flats in an area of 120 kanals of land at an estimated cost of Rs. 135.00 Crore for their allotment to the EWS, LIG and MIG persons. He Manohar asked the Chairman and MD, J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd. Jammu to prepare project reports for construction of similar flats in J&K to meet the immediate housing requirement. Dr. Manohar also requested Dr. Khurana, take up the matter with the HUDCO for early settlement of the outstanding HUDCO loan to be paid by the J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd. Jammu. Dr. Manohar also visited the Regional Institute of Cooperative Management at Chandigarh which is functioning under the aegis of National Council for Cooperating Training, New Delhi. Dr. Niraj Pasricha, Director of the RICM briefed the Minister that this RICM is catering to the needs of neighboring five states for imparting training in Cooperative and other short/long term and Refresher Courses to the in-service as well as freshers. He assured that special consideration shall be given to the Cooperative employees/trainees of J&K State. The Minister also visited the Fortis Hospital, Mohali Chandigarh to enquire about the health of Mr. Charanjit Singh, MLA Kathua who is under treatment and has recovered now. He wished him good health and speedy recovery. |
