Hatli residents demands early construction of Link Road to Manu

Kathua, Jan 19: Locals at Hatli and its adjoining area of Kathua district demand early construction of 20 kilometer from Hatli to Manu which still is pending.
The Sarpanch of the Hatli Panchayat Ramesh Lal Gupta along with panches Ashok Kumar, Bishan Dass, Romal Singh, and Distt Secy BSP Sardari Lal recalled the survey on this project commenced in 1998, about 12 years back and project under NABARD was cleared during 2000 while it has been the demanding by the people of the Hatli and its adjoining area.
They further said the population of Billawar, Basohli, Bani, Machedi and far flung areas of the district Kathua, connecting them to the district headquarters Kathua, proposed to be constructed about twelve years back still facing rough weather, neglect and apathy of District Administration, R&B authorities and of course, the local leadership.
They alleged that not only all the public representatives elected whether from Basohli, Billawar, Bani or even Kathua seem to have no interest in this important project of public interest.
Meanwhile sources in R&B Department informed that disclosed that out of the total road length of 24 kms from Kathua to Manu (on Dhar Road ahead of Satwain) via Hatli village, only 8 kms road link had to be constructed while nearly 16 kms, good black -topped all weather road already existed. "While three kms of the road jurisdiction falls in Basohli division whereas, 5 kms falls in Kathua division of the R&B department, they added.
Executive Engineer R&B Basohli, Subash Gupta said that total 15 kilometer area of road falls in the Basohli division for which ten years back 117 lakhs have been sanctioned in first phase in which 3 kilometer road work was taken up by the division out of that this 3 kilometer 1.5 portion has been completed with black top and further road work was held up due to the objection set by the forest area. He further disclosed that at present the 15 kilometer road project of amounting more than 21 crore is submitted in the NABARD.
Executive Engineer R&B Kathua N K Sharma, however, said that without adequate funding the completion of the road is not possible. He disclosed that total 5 kilometer road fall in Kathua division from Hatli to Gunn and further remaining falls in Basohli division while the out of five kilometer only 2.5 kilometer portion has been completed till date 2.5 Kms is on progress.
