United Forum of Bank Unions list grievances, demand redressal | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 19: Under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions the Jammu Province Bank Employees' & Officers' Federations today held a massive protest dharna at Shalamar Road, Jammu. Today's dharna was observed in all state capitals of the country against the aggravated anti people and anti-worker polices of the Government. Addressing the dharna Arun Kumar Gupta, General Secretary, Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation highlighted the core issues for which entire working force of the country has practically become restive. These issues include: The Equity Capital of Government in the Public Sector Banks is sought to be reduced and Private Capital is sought to be encouraged. In some of the Government's sector Capital has come down to as low as 51%. Instead of expanding the Banks to reach more and more sections of the population, there are efforts to consolidate and merge the public sector Banks. The Government of India's proposal to avail Loans from World Bank to capitalize Public Sector Banks would only result in acceptance of adverse conditionality on the banks, affecting our internal priorities and policies. Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill introduced in the parliament envisages further encouragement to foreign capital in our Banks with unrestricted voting rights. The Bill also seeks to allow more voting rights to private investors in public sector banks. Adequate recapitalization of all Public Sector Banks by proper infusion of the equity capital through budget allocation should be undertaken by the Government of India immediately. The Government moves to implement retrograde Khandelwal Committee Recommendations. For early implementation of compassionate ground appointments & financial compensation scheme in Banks as the same is already implemented in all other sectors-Central Government, State Governments, Railway, Public Sector Units, LIC,RBI, etc. Defined working hours for officers were demanded as there is no defined working hours which is being wrongly interpreted as though they are 24 hour servants of the Banks. This is a very important issue to be resolved as officers are being increasingly subjected to harassments in this regard. The protest venue displayed placards & banners opposing all such measures of the government. Those who addressed the dharna included Ashwani Pradhan, Ram Kumar Sharma, president, State Employees Joint Action Committee, Gafoor Dar, president, J&K National Trade Union Front, Ravi Gupta, general secretary, All India J&K Bank Officers Association, Manjit Singh, V.K.Dutta, Sohan Lal Baveria, Veena Rathore, Nirmal Rattan, T.K.Tikoo, Ashwani Kapoor, Ashok Khazanchi, Anil Kumar Pandoh, Vijay Zutshi, Hardev Singh, Narayni, Anil Gupta,.
