CSIR programme for youth in leadership in science on anvil

Jammu, Jan 19: Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu is organizing two-day programme for the meritorious students of J & K state on 19-20 January, 2012 under CSIR programme on Youth for Leadership in Science (CPYLS).
Under this programme about 100 students alongwith one of their parents/teacher/guardian are to be invited to visit IIIM, Jammu.
M.S. Baloria Secretary, J & K Board of School Education presided as the chief guest on the inaugural function of CPYLS programme on 19th January 2012 and also give valuable thoughts to the meritorious students of Jammu & Kashmir state who shall be our future torch bearers.
CSIR, New Delhi has launched a scheme from 1999 called "CSIR Programme on Youth for Leadership in Science (CPYLS)".
The main objective of this scheme are to expose the young minds to the exciting world of science, help in building up a scientific temper at an early age and instill in them a sense of pride in the achievements of Indian Science.
The laboratories arrange popular science lectures by eminent S & T personages. Audio- visual presentations about the contributions of the eminent Indian scientists and technologists of the world of knowledge, technology and industry were also imparted. Demonstration of interesting experiments leading to understanding of the basic concepts of science was held.
Today's ProgrammeSushma Koul and Amit Nargotra made the presentation on Climate change, global warming and use of IT in drug discovery respectively. IIIM, Jammu a constituent of CSIR will organize this CPYLS programme for the toppers in the last CBSE and State Board of examinations. The top ranking of the merit list will be given the facility to visit any additional CSIR laboratories of their choice anywhere in India.
Among these students, who are perusing science will be provided support and facilities to undertake their project work for class 11th and 12th atone of the CSIR laboratories.
