KPs reaffirm pledge to continue struggle for homeland on Holocaust Day

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 19: Kashmiri Pandits today reaffirmed their pledge to continue their struggle for separate homeland within Valley as it was the only solution to their problems.
The pledge was taken during the observance of 22nd Holocaust Day here today by various Kashmiri Pandit organizations including Panun Kashmir, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) and Non Camp Migrants Committee during different programmes held in connection with observance of the Day.
Maintaining that Homeland was only solution to reverse the process of genocide and mass exodus the PK leaders while addressing a function here today said that they have faced persecution in Kashmir for last 700 years and the community can no longer stay with majority community in Valley in view of the rejection of co-existence by majority community of Valley in 1989-90 which resulted in mass exodus of the community.
The PK leaders while justifying the homeland demand urged the community members to redouble their efforts to take the struggle to their logical end. They said the reign of terror let loose by the Jehadi forces and separatists in the Valley and atrocities committed on minority community by them has led to present plight of Pandits who are leading an exiled life for over last 22 years.
They while rejecting the return formula of government said that by giving mere sops will not guarantee the secured life to the community on their return to Kashmir which is the basic requisite thing for the community's return to valley. There can be no guarantee that the community will be again forced to flee from Kashmir on their return to Valley.
The PK led by Dr Ajay Chrungoo organised the programme at Sharda Bhawan Bantalab while the joint Forum of KP organizations held a massive demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan where the solemn pledge was taken by the gathering to take the struggle for homeland to its logical conclusion.
The Joint Forum leaders including H L Chatta, Ashwani Chrungoo, D N Kissu and others warned the government against its return formula saying that any move without taking the community into confidence will boomerang. They said that return can't be thrusted on Pandits as they have a worst experience of their past life in Valley.
They recalled the events of January 19, 1990 that set the process of exodus in motion after the separatists warned the community to leave the Valley within 24 hours. They said the government of state as well as Centre which watched like a mute spectator to all this are now giving clean chit to separatists and Jehadi forces who waged a war to India.
``What can be the compulsions of the government can be fully understood but the community will continue its struggle for its rights which have been snatched by the powers that be'' said a spokesman of the forum.
He said the Pandits will continue the struggle with all determination and we appeal the community members all over the globe to support homeland demand fully which is the everlasting solution to the KPs problems.
