Political leaders allege Omar led coalition of 'partial' to handle snow affected people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 20: Various political parties including BJP, PDP, Congress and NPP have alleged that Omar led present coalition for continuing 'policy of discrimination' even when the state is passing through the crisis of hostile weather and asked it to treat all the regions and communities equal in matters related to providing relief to the people affected by the natural calamities. In a press conference here today Dachhan-Marwah BJP Mandal President Ravi Kumar Parihar said that the recent unprecedented heavy snowfall in Dachhan, Marwah, Wardwan and other areas of Kishtwar have badly hit the normal life. Charging the government of being working on snail's pace in providing relief to the people affected by snowfall in different areas of erstwhile Doda district, he said, "The administration has shown least concern towards the mitigation of the sufferings of the people as majority of them belong to the minority community. He said residents of Dachhan-Marwah Blocks are stranded at Jammu/Kishtwar due to heavy snowfall and blockage of Jammu-Kishtwar Road and are facing hardships and demanded immediate air lifting to their home locality through helicopter service. Mandal Vice-president Narayan Dass and Mandal Secretary Mangat Ram were also present in the press conference. Meanwhile a Senior Leader of opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) Kishtwar Saddiqui expressed resentment over the ignoring of districts of Chenab Valley including Doda , Kishtwar and Ramban in all sectors. He said the KIshtwar and Doda have remained cut off from the rest of the state since Jan 5 and people in remote areas are facing acute shortage of essential commodities and even medicine etc but no minister from State Government visited the Chenab Valley indicating tall claims of state go hollow and futile. Alleging government is bothered only for stranded passengers of valley but is least showing concerns towards people affected in other remote areas, PDP leader demanded that passengers from Doda and Kishtwar also to be airlifted to their respective homes on priority. Another senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan from Rajouri-Poonch lambasted the present coalition government for its step motherly treatment towards the border areas of Rajouri and Poonch. In a statement Shahzad has criticized the government's negligence towards the provision of essential commodities as well as relief to the people victimized by natural calamities. "It is more unfortunate, said Shahzad that despite the show off tours by the authorities, relief work is only in papers and nothing is being made available on ground. A senior Pradesh Youth Congress leader R S Pathania stated fact remains that record and unprecedented snowfall has been also witnessed in areas of Jammu region and since the past fortnight civil supplies have totally been snapped off with a crisis-like situation prevailing in these areas. National Panthers Party (NPP) Provincial General Secretary (Jammu Province) Anil Parihar, in a statement also expressed concerns over the situation in Kishtwar due to heavy snow fall resulting into stranding of passengers as well as load carriers along Batote to Kishtwar and Kishtwar to Paddar and Chhatro area. NPP leader said that government has totally failed in providing the essential commodities to the peoples and assessing the losses caused to the houses which are damaged by the heavy snow in the district of Kishtwar., District Doda and Ramban District. He also urged upon the government to provide essential commodities to the masses of the Kishtwar as early as possible. |
