Jammu, Jan 15 A day-long block level training program on non-farm sector, sponsored by NABARD and organized by Lok Sewa Sangathan, was inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr.Khursheed Ahmed Bhat at village Jakhenu in Majalta Block today. In his address, the ADC emphasized the rural entrepreneurs to adopt the units, which can provide sustainable income to them so that their living standards improve and the loan taken by them from the banks is also repaid in time for better recycling of funds. Het exhorted upon the rural entrepreneurs to undertake rural non-farm sector activities in groups and clusters in order to get better prices of their products. He said that such awareness camps would help them to set up their own units with credit support from the banks. The District Development Manager, NABARD, Udhampur, Rattan Lal explained the objective of organizing such awareness camps in rural areas and said that NABARD has identified rural non-farm sector as a thrust area and various credit linked experimental promotional programs, concepts would be introduced for developing rural enterprises and entrepreneurship The Project Manager, DIC, PL Atri highlighted the need and importance of taking up non-farm sector activities by the unemployed rural youth with credit support from the banks. Faqir Chand, District Manager, JCC B and Rajiv Kharyal, Branch Manager, J&K Bank, Khoon, Vivek Puri, BDO, officers from KVIB, Horticulture, Agriculture and prominent social workers of the area participated in the program.
