PDP Kishtwar demands restoration of Kishtwar-Jammu NH
1/20/2012 11:38:51 PM
Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Jan 20 : Senior People's Democratic Praty (PDP) leader from Kishtwar Shakir Hussain Saddiqui has expressed resentment over the ignorance of erstwhile Doda District commonly known as Chenab Valley comprising of three districts viz Doda , Kishtwar and Ramban in all sectors of development and even on the disaster management front. In a press statement issued today by the PDP Kishtwar, Siddiqui said that like other parts of the state, Chenab valley having population of more than 8 lacs are snow bound and people of Kishtwar and Doda have remained cut off from the rest of the state since 6th of January, 2012 thereby causing huge shortage of essential commodities including ration, vegetables, kerosene, LPG, medicine etc. Saddiqui said no minister of state government visited the Chenab Valley to take stock of the position which clearly tells the sorry state of affairs of Government and shows the tall and hollow claims of state government led by Omar Abdullah. He said that despite the assurance of Chief Minister during his brief visit to Kishtwar on 09-01-2012, the concerned authorities failed to restore the Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway. He demanded for airlifting of stranded passengers to their respective homes on priority so that they could take a sigh of relief. Saddiqui expressed the hope that state government would awake from deep slumber and take care of the people living in the district of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban. He also urged the govt. and concerned authorities for early restoration of Batote-Kishtwar National Highway from snow, which according to him is the main cause that has paralyzed the districts of Chenab region, since Kishtwar-Jammu National highway is considered as life line for Chenab region in terms of supply of essential commodities to Chenab Valley.
