JMC drive against adulteration continues | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 20: Under instructions from S C Sawheny Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation along with team of Food Safety Officers continued drive to check the quality of food items and inspected about 140 food establishments like sweets shops / workshops, Restaurants / dabhas, bakery shops, fruit / vegetables shops, tea stall, karyana shops etc. in the areas of Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Digiana, Gangyal, Satwari etc. The team destroyed on spot about 4 quintails of sub- standard milk and 50 kgs of sweets and bakery products which were not fit for human consumption. During the inspection 20 defaulters and an amount of Rs. 11000 was charged as fine from the defaulters. The team also seized 18 kgs of polythene carry bags from these areas during the drive.Besides this, 2 samples of fresh milk were also lifted from these areas under the provision of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and sent to Food Analyst Jammu for deducting the standard of purity. Further, the Enforcement Wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation led by Chief Enforcement Officer took certain actions in the different areas falling within the Jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation which include demolishing of the compound wall raised by encroaching the irrigation land by Jaswant Singh S/o Ajit Singh at Digiana, Jammu. The team also demolished the shop raised by Vijay Kumar S/o Babu Ram at 3 A/B Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in the rear set back followed by the walls of a room at Resham Ghar being raised by covering the stairs leading to PHE. It also removed sheds constructed for commercial use by Chander Shekhar at Hari Market Opp SBI, Jammu. The said demolishing operation has been conducted with the help of Police Force from Gangyal, Police Station, Jammu and Police Post Hari Market, Jammu. |
