IAF to airlift stranded passengers

Srinagar, Jan 20: Following the closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and also fresh snowfall in Kashmir, the Jammu & Kashmir government on Friday said they will airlift the stranded passengers between Srinagar and Jammu. According to official statement issued here, The JK Government has asked now Indian Air Force to lift the passengers stranded in Jammu & Kashmir due to closure of Highway. "The state government is making special arrangements of Indian Air Force aircraft for airlifting stranded passengers between Srinagar and Jammu, subject to availability of aircraft," the statement said. It further said, "All those stranded passengers at Srinagar, desirous of travelling to Jammu are requested to immediately register themselves at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Srinagar located near Radio Kashmir, Srinagar, and bring along with them, proof of their identity." "All such passengers who have already purchased tickets of SRTC buses for Jammu are also requested to register at the TRC, so that they can be airlifted to Jammu," it added.
