SKUAST-J organizes training programme for rural women | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 20: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu and under the auspices of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-J organized training programme on "Viable income generating unit for rural women and adolescent girls" at Pathanmora in which a number of women participated. Rakesh Sharma, SMS Agricultural Extension KVK, Rajouri while speaking on the occasion, briefed the participants about the various activities being run by the KVK, Rajouri for farmers, farm women, unemployed rural youth and school dropouts. Sheetal Badyal, SMS, Home Science, Directorate of Extension SKUAST-Jammu made detailed deliberations on viable income generating units for rural women and adolescent girls through which the unemployed women can earn good income and support their family. Sheetal Badyal laid emphasis on food, vegetable and milk processing for value addition. She further stressed that rural women should form self help groups in their villages so that that can negotiate with the marketing agencies for sale of raw material and purchase of final product. On this occasion Punit Choudhary briefed that the rural women should utilize the help of the KVK Rajouri for technical support. During the training A.P. Singh SMS Agronomy guided the trainees about the use of crop products for income generation and upliftment of livelihood. The training programme was highly appreciated by all the farm women's and requested that similar type of activities should be conducted in this area from time to time.
