| Short course on "Legal Rights of Women" concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 20: Women's' Studies Centre of GGM Science College today organized the valedictory function of the five-day long course on "Legal Rights of Women" here this afternoon at the College. Professor Poonam Dhawan, Director, Women Studies Centre, University of Jammu was the chief guest of the function. Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Poonam Dhawan congratulated the Women's Studies Centre, GGM Science College for organizing the short course on "Legal right and literacy". She said that in the present era of globalization and emerging knowledge-based societies, there is a need of the youth to have add-on courses like this present course which has been wonderfully conducted by the WSC. "In the present times when men and women are working together shoulder to shoulder in every sphere of life, there is a need to change our thinking with regard to gender. In new work environment and knowledge-based societies, the boys and girls are working together and there is a need to be sensitive towards gender issues," said Dr. Poonam Dhawan.
Prof Madhu Gupta, Consultant, WSC and Ex-Director of WSC of the college hoped that the course would help the students in their lives in future some time some day. She also apprised the students with various legal issues faced by women. Prof Madhu Gupta, Consultant, WSC, GGM Science College, Dr. Kavita Suri, Assistant Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, Dr Vandana Khajuria, Coordinator, Women's Study Centre and other faculty members were also present at the occasion. |
