Top artists to perform in RKJ's Sham-e-Ghazal | | | early times report
JAMMU, Jan 20: Radio Kashmir Jammu in collaboration with Government College for Women (GCW) is organizing 'Sham-e-Ghazal' in connection with Republic Day celebrations on January 24 at the college auditorium, here at 5 pm. Two top ghazal artists of the country, Dr Roshan Bharati from Kota, Rajasthan and Sakhawat Husain Khan from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh have been invited to perform in this concert, informed Programme Head of RKJ, Ravi Magotra. Dr Roshan Bharati is a 'top' grade artist and is associated with AIR Jaipur. He regularly records for radio and sings in concerts. A gold medalist in post graduation from the University of Rajasthan, Dr Roshan also has to his credit a doctoral thesis on Begum Akhters ' life and works'. He has shared stage with many maestros in the field and has also sung for TV Serials. Sakhawat Husain Khan is not unknown to Jammu audience. He belongs to Rampur in Uttar Pradesh and is associated with Rampur-Sahasvanar Gharana. An 'A' grade artist of All India Radio, Sakhawat received his initial training in Classical Music from his father. He then shifted to Ghazal singing. Element of classical music is vividly visible in his style of singing. He has many awards and releases to his credit and has performed in foreign countries also. |
