Kavi Samelan organizes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 20: A day long multi lingual Kavi Samelan was held by Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at KL Saigal Hall here on Friday. The event was presided over by former secretary, Academy Prof. ND Sharma while noted litterateur, Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri was the chief guest on the occasion. The event saw participation of noted poets of languages like Punjabi, Dogri and Hindi. Those who read their poetic compositions during the event included Dr. Aruna Sharma, Shyam Bihari, Kapil Anirudh, Prof. Champa Sharma, Ajeet Singh Mastana, Baljit Singh Raina, Pradhuman Singh, Krishan Kumar and Joginder Singh Pandhi among others. Welcoming the guests, additional secretary, Cultural Academy, Jammu, Savita Bakshi said that the Academy organised the composite mushaira in commemoration of the Lohri festivities and said that such programmes would continue to be held by the Academy on festive occasions. In his presidential remarks ND Sharma said that the Academy was set up for promotion of good poetry and propagation of such a culture and he was glad to see that the organisation was moving in the right direction. The programme proceedings were conducted by editor Dogri, Brij Mohan. He also presented the vote of thanks. Meanwhile as part of Republic Day celebrations a traditional music programme was held at Suman Shiksha Kendra, Marh the other day. Organised by the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages the programme saw performances by several music parties including that of Shiv Dass, Prem Nath Radha, Girdhari Lal Dogra and Bimla Devi among others. Principal Suman Shiksha Kendra, Marh, Bansi Lal was the chief guest on the occasion. Academy's senior drama instructor, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan welcomed the audience while additional secretary, Savita Bakshi presented the vote of thanks. |
