| Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Holds Annual Day Function | | | Jammu Jan 15 The Annual Day function of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University), was held at the new premises of the Campus at Kot Bhalwal Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh was the chief Guest on the occasion while Director, Education DK Vaid was the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Principal Prof. Vishwa Murti Shastri. Speaking on the occasion, Member Parliament Singh highlighted the rich Sanskrit tradition of the Jammu Kashmir State and said that Sanskrit is over identity and every effort should be made to preserve and promote it, while Vaid said that Sanskrit is the basis of our national heritage and has contributed significantly to the unity and integrity of the nation. In his Presidential Address, Prof. Shastri highlighted the role of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan in preservation and promotion of Sanskrit in the country in general and of Ranbir Campus, Jammu of J&K in particular through formal and non-formal systems. He thanked Prof. V. Kutumb Sastry, Vice Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi and Mr. C. Giri, Registrar, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi, for being instrumental in construction of the brand new campus at Bhalwal, Jammu, and expressed the hope that the sprawling building and premises of the Jammu campus will beckon more and more students to take up Sanskrit as the main subject of their academic pursuits. The Chief guest gave away prizes to 146 students who had excelled in the various competitions held in the campus. On the occasion Dr. Bharat Bhushan and Dr. Madan Das presented the Vaidic Manglacharanam, whereas Dr. Bhanu Murti presented the Pauranic Mangalacharnam. Welcome song was presented by students led by Pooja and Neelam. Pahari Dance by Kamala and Manju, Dogri Group song, Yoga display and Shloka Antyakshari were other highlights of the function. A book written by Dr. Vaidya Nath Jha was released on the occasion.
