People of Chenab valley get respite from cold | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, Jan 21: People of Chenab valley finally gets respite from the cold as sun finally shines for whole day today nearly after more than one week of continuous snowfall. The people in large number were seen sitting in open to enjoy the sunlight. As the weather improves, the traffic on 230 km long Jammu- Kishtwar National has been partially restored early this morning and few vehicles loaded with essential commodities including Kerosene Oil, LPG and other essential commodities reached Doda and Kishtwar districts giving some respite not only to the people but also to administrations of both he districts. According to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hussain Malik, 70% electricity supply in Kishtwar District has been restored till this afternoon and said that by the evening areas of Padder Tehsil will start receiving the electricity as per the schedule. He said electric supply to Sundar, Lohidar, Saroor, Sarthal, Galhar, Chatroo, Sangpora has been restored and said that he is hopeful that by the evening or tomorrow morning electricity supply to Bunzwah area will also be restored. He said that with the opening of National Highway, at least 10-12 trucks loaded with essential commodities for Kishtwar District entered Chenab and by the evening most of them will reach at Kishtwar. He said one LPG laden truck having nearly 275 LPG Cylinder this afternoon reach Kishtwar and same was distributed among the people in presence of police and officials of District Administration. He said that 3 tankers loaded with Kerosene oil and one truck loaded with LPG is expected to reach Kishtwar by tomorrow after and said that same will be given to the people. He said that in case the weather remains pleasant, more vehicles will essentialities will start reaching to Kishtwar thus gives the respite to the people who suffers for the want of essentialities due to continuous blockade of NH. District Commissioner Kishtwar also took the serious note of continuous absent of government officials posted in far flung areas of Kishtwar District, particularly the doctors and Para medical staff. Deputy Commissioner said that he had issued strict instruction to the concerned officers to report immediately back to their place of posting or be ready to face the action. Early Times has also highlighted the issue in today's edition of the newspaper. When contacted Deputy Commissioner Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan said that few trucks loaded with essential commodities like vegetables and Kiryana items reached Doda today and said that more vehicles are expected tomorrow including LPG. He said that electricity in most parts of the Doda District has been restored bearing few remote village where huge snowfall has been recorded. He said that efforts are on to restore the electricity in unconnected areas in phased manner. Meanwhile, several people were reportedly got injured during last few days in Kishtwar town as the employees of Municipal Committee Kishtwar have failed to remove the snow from lanes within the municipal limit. In a fresh incident one Amit Gupta posted in DC office Kishtwar got his leg fractured in Ward No:10 Shatinagar Kishtwar after he slips due to accumulated snow. Amit was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for advanced treatment. |
