| Medical camp organised at Parade | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 21: A multi-specialty medical camp was organized by Post and Telegraph Department in the premises of P&T dispensary, Parade.
The camp was formally inaugurated by Chief Post Master General J&K Circle John Samuel and the team of doctors was led by eminent medical professionals who included Dr Jitendra Singh, Senior Diabetologist and National Professor, Dr S K Gupta former Professor and HOD Neurology GMC and Dr Gautam Mengi Principal Trikuta Dental College. Chief Medical Officer P&T Dr Sudershan Gupta was also present.
A large number of patients drawn from both serving as well as retired employees of P&T Department sought the benefit of free laboratory tests for blood sugar and other problems. Free consultation was provided on the spot and free medicines were also distributed. In his address, John Samuel welcomed the eminent doctors and thanked them for providing free public service. He also disclosed that similar medical and health camps will be organized by his department in future also in Jammu as well as peripheral areas.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that he has been regularly offering services in diabetes awareness programmes and camps for the last 20 years and appreciated John Samuel's initiative in providing the facility and arrangement for today's camp.
He said that the best remedy and prevention against diabetes is public education and mass detection to diagnose undetected patients of diabetes. Therefore such camps need to be organized at regular intervals, he added.
