Drive against polythene and encroachment launched | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Jan 21 : On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Kathua a team of officers headed by Tehsildar Kathua Mr Jatinder Mishra with the Liasoning of Army launched anti polythene and anti encroachment drive in the Kalibari and Janglot Morh area of Kathua town. Colonel Phought, Executing Officer, Municipal Kathua Mr Harbans Singh, SHO Kathua, Sunita Rani , Member of the Pollution Control Board were among the team members. During the drive Team seized 10 kg of polythene bags from Kalibari and Janglote Morh area. The team issued warnings to the shopkeepers, Rehariwalas and Phariwalas against the use of banned polythene bags. The team asked them to use environment friendly bags instead of polythene bags. During the drive team also cleared the encroachment by the shopkeepers on both sides of road in Janglote Morh and Kalibari area. The shopkeepers were directed by the team not to keep the goods for display outside their shops. The team also cleared the Kalibari Chowk of rahris and phadis. The direction were issued to auto Rikshaw operators to keep the chowk free to avoid traffic congestion on the national highway. Tehsildar Kathua Mr Jatinder Mishra while warning the shopkeepers Rehriwalas and Phariwalaas said that anti polythene and anti encroachment drive will remain a regular affair in the future and any shopkeeper found using polythene bags and encroaching the footpath and roads will be severely dealt with heavy fine and prosecuted law. |
