Atharwa group, DSW donate Rs. 1.10 lakh to war widows | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 21: In a function held in the premises of Directorate of Sainik Welfare (DSW) J&K, Atharwa Group of Institutes, Mumbai donated Rs.1.10 lakh to selected war widows and widows of Indian Armed Forces on January 21, 2011. A total of two war widows and nine widows were provided with financial relief of approximately Rs.10,000/- each. A war widow Mrs Kapoori Devi whose husband sacrificed his life in Indo-Pak war of 1965 was also awarded Rs.13500/- on the occasion. The Atharwa Group of Institutes is basically imparting education in the disciplines of Management, Engineering, Hotel Management, IT and Fashion Designing. This initiative was taken up by the Indian Princess Beauty Pageant organized by the group. The Indian Princess Beauty Pageant has taken up the cause of education of girl child and honouring the gallant soldiers who have achieved martyrdom during various operations. Mrs. Varsha Rane, the trustee of Atharwa Education Trust headed this team for this noble venture. In addition, the Director, Sainik Welfare Department Brig R S Langeh and ZSWO Lt Col R L Gangal also donated eight sewing machines to the war widows provided by HQ Western Command of Army located at Chandimandir. |
