Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21: Friday's decision of Jammu police to place four Constables under suspension while sparing the other police personnel seems to have come under cloud.
On Friday, Jammu Police ordered suspension of four constables and an inquiry against them after two accused of Chopra murder case including NC, MLC, Tarlochan Singh Wazir alias Tallo and his brother Ajab Singh were found taking lavish food in the court complex in the presence of police personnel deputed to take them to the court from the Jail.
Tallo and Ajab had to appear in the court today in connection with Chopra murder case.
However, eyebrows are being raised as why the senior police officers did not even sought an explanation from the other Cops of the rank of Head Constables, Assistant Sub Inspector and a Sub Inspector who were responsible for maintaining a supervision on such ill-activities.
"There is always a full team that collectively ensure to and fro visits of the under trials from Jail to court. Further, it is the entire team, that ensures, that no one can meet the under trials while on way. And in the said case, it was not just a meeting but even the food was served to the two under trials. Is suspension of few Cops and giving a clean chit to the others justified?" questioned a police officer while talking to ET on the condition of anonymity.
"Had there been some conspiracy and some one could have managed to give poisonous substance while mixing the same in the food, then what could have been the fate of under trials and status of the case. And whom the police would have held responsible?" indicated sources in police department.
Furthermore, why police are silent over inquiring the sensitive issue as who was the person who managed to bring lavish food in utensils inside the District Court premises, when the premises is well-guarded by additional deployment of security wing personnel. Notably, security personnel do not allow any person to enter inside the Court premises without proper frisking and checking of even women visitors.
Reliable sources revealed to ET, "Placing few police personnel under suspension will not fully solve the sensitive issue. Even the senior police officers are also worried and trying to come out with a foolproof arrangement so that such incident is not repeated in future."
While none of the concerned senior police officers were available for comment, sources shared that "police' top brass has taken a serious note of the incident and instructed the subordinate officers to keep and strong vigil in the court premises and ensure such incidents are not repeated again."
