Soz says Cong in coalition with NC

Srinagar, Jan 21: State Congress president, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, on Saturday though it is premature to comment on upcoming municipal polls but Congress is in coalition with National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir in the local bodies polls. "We are in coalition with the NC and there is lot of time left in municipal elections," Soz told media persons in valley. Asked whether the elections would be held on non-party basis and whether Congress will contest polls in alliance with the NC, Soz said, "It is premature to comment on this issue." Meanwhile, Prof Soz called a meeting of the party leaders and workers immediately after his arrival in Srinagar where municipal elections were discussed. Sources within party said that Soz has asked the leaders and the workers to be ready for the polls. PCC (I) Chief had reiterated his demand of empowering panchs and sarpanches. The meeting also discussed problems faced by the people due to recent snowfall and closure of highway. "Stay in touch with the people," Soz asked the Congress leaders.
