Airlift stranded students: PDP | ‘Compensate to affected in snowfall areas’ | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 21: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party Saturday lashed out the 'callous' government response to help stranded passengers including some 80 students who are stuck at Jammu because of the ongoing highway situation. In a press communiqué issued here, senior PDP leaders said that 'apathetic approach' to the plight of stranded travelers and students is turning grave by the moment as 'tall claims of the government of airlifting them has proven to be hollow.' They said that stranded students, at Jammu, have been facing all kinds of hardships and have also ran out of money. They demanded that students be immediately airlifted so that they could reach their home and their torment ends. He also said that post snowfall the government has only prioritized restoration of basic services while as the 'damages the snow has caused is being swept under the carpet by government.' They said that district Bandipora has suffered from heavy damages due to heavy snowfall in the area and added that government has failed to assess the damages, let alone compensate them.
