| Shahidi divas of Parveen Singh observed | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 22: To commemorate Shahidi Divas of Shahid Parveen Singh, a function was held at Sattowali, R S Pura today in which Minister for Medical Education R S Chib was the chief guest.
Late Parveen Singh of 13 Dogra Regiment sacrificed his life while fighting with militants at Doda in 2002.
Paying rich tributes to the martyr, the Minister said that his valour would be remembered forever who lost his life for the cause of the state.
Minister lauded the role of Army and security forces in defending the territory of the country and maintaining peace which is vital for progress and prosperity of any nation. Chib said commemoration of such occasions boost the morale of the youth for serving the country. The Minister thanked Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora for his efforts for developing Octorai Post (Suchetgarh) under border tourism for which Central Government has sanctioned funds. He said, besides construction of park and renovation of temple, a war memorial photo gallery will also be established at the post where he said the photographs of martyrs of the R S Pura will be displayed.
The Minister said a project is also in offing to protect the water body of Gharana, adding that a link road would also be constructed to contact Octorai post and Gharana Water body to facilitate the visitors. Among those who also paid rich tributes to the martyr included Arjun Singh, Ch. Ram Lal, Sobha Singh, Prof. Singh and other prominent locals .
