Hilly, rural areas getting focused attention of govt. : Dy. CM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 22: Underlining endeavour of the government to push forward development process in rural belts, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said focused attention is being paid to equip hilly and remote areas of the state with all required infrastructure. He said empowerment of people at grass root level is giant leap by the government to strengthen democracy and make people party to the development revolution launched all over the state. Tara Chand was addressing a gathering on his follow visit to inspect pace and progress of development works in special package cluster model village at Pargwal, on Saturday evening. Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu Ms Rehana Batul, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Akhnoor N.S.Jamwal, Block Development Officer and engineers and functionaries of concerned departments were present during the visit. In his whirlwind visit to the area, the Deputy Chief Minister visited various far-flung villages including, Najwal, Nikkowal, Channi Tana, Patti Mahanta, Nai Basti, N.S.Pura and Belli Jamana. While inspecting quality of work, Tara Chand directed the executing agencies to use quality material and ensure that specifications are followed in totality. He directed for tile procurement from Building Centre, Jammu and passed directions for taking action against the VLW for using sub-standard material. He also inspected government store N.S.Pura and on finding discrepancies in stock position directed the concerned for attachment fo the store keeper. The Deputy Chief Minister said special package of Rs. 11.75 crore has been announced for the model village and no delay would be tolerated in the prestigious project. He said work schedule of double shits should be followed, so that works get completed within the stipulated time frame.
