| Virender lifts 107th Panthal Kesari title | | | Katra | Jan 15 Virender Malik of Guru Hanuman Akhara, Delhi has lifted the 107th Panthal Kesari-2007 title by defeating Gurvinder Singh of Amritsar in a tough bout played for 16 minutes. He was also adjudged as the best wrestler in the ‘Dangal’ which was organized by Shri 108 Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association under the aegis of J&K Indian style wrestling Association. SP Ramban, Benam Tosh was the Chief Guest while Shiv Kumar Sharma, treasurer, Indian Style wrestling Association of India presided over the function. The winner of the 1st bout, Virendra was given away cash prize of Rs. 6000/- in addition ot traditional Silver Gurj and Patta by Benam Tosh while runner up was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 5000/-. In all 48 bouts were played in the Vishal Dangal. The second main bout was played between Jagroop Pahalwan of Amritsar and Manjeet of Delhi. Dagroop won the bout in Six minutes. He was given away cash prize of Rs. 4000/- where as the runner-up was awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 3000/-. In other words Veer Singh defeated Puran, Amit Kumar defeated Arshad, Puran defeated Dallu, Gurcharan defeated Sunny, Billu defeated Gulshan, Kashmira defeated Sitara, Benia defeated Shinda, Vinod defeated Ashok Kumar, Bhola defeated Veera where as the bout between Mohd. Akram and Gurcharan ended in a draw. The ‘Dangal’ was witnessed by nearly 16000 people from the surrounding areas. The Dangal was participated by 80 wrestlers from across the northern India. Later, Shiv Kumar Sharma expressed his gratitude towards all who made the Dangal a great success.
