| Security agencies `seal' Sports House | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 23: The security agencies today `sealed' the Sports House, the building which has headquarters of both J&K State Sports Council and Department of Youth Services (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here.
Citing security reasons as the MA Stadium is venue for the Republic Day function, the officers concerned of the securing wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police this afternoon visited the offices of Sports Council and DYSS asking the staff to vacate the place without any delay.
According both the sports departments, without uttering any word, locked their offices and went on two days `unofficial' vacations.
It was like owner of the house asked to vacate the space. The order has certainly affected the normal working of the two major sports offices without any fault of theirs.
However, the DYSS somehow managed to move some record and staff to its Division office at Gandhi Nagar to run the show for next two days. But, confused and little prepared State Sports Council did nothing to look for an alternative.
"Had the heads of these two organizations took up the matter with higher ups in police and civil administration the security agencies could have spared the building from seize. The Sports House locates at the main gate of the MA Stadium only and hardly disturb anything," an officer of the DYSS told reporters. |
